An afternoon at EVOE

I am unbelievably fortunate to have Rebecca Gates as my culinary and cultural ambassador to Portland. Not only does she seemingly know everyone in town, but she has exquisite taste in food, design, people, art, bicycles, etc, etc. She scooped me up on Friday for bike ride about town and an afternoon of snacking on inspired small plates and sipping bone dry, effervescent Spanish wine at EVOE.

EVOE evokes my best memories of eating in Spain, plate by beautiful plate on long, sunny, languorous summer afternoons. Nothing fussy, just a few perfect, peak-of-season ingredients, accompanied by bread and grassy green olive oil.
