The Move Part 1: Austin to Southern Cal
Always forward, never back. LITERALLY. Trust me, never try to back a Uhaul trailer out of a dead-end street, you may reconsider your move, or be tempted to abandon your worldly possessions in some tiny corner of America.
For our first leg we pushed a long 14 hours to Albuquerque to stay with our sweet friends Jeff and Rachel, in their immaculate little adobe house. Day 2 lead us to Sedona, AZ with its stunning red rocks for a good trail run, a swim in the salt water pool and sunset by the pinon wood fire pit at Hotel El Portal.
We finally landed this leg in Pasadena, CA staying with our friends Tyler and Matt of Handsome Coffee who spoiled us with ridiculously delicious pour-over coffees on a regular basis, and the best gelato I have had the pleasure of eating (at least on this side of the Atlantic). We took a 2 day pause and Patrick got a bike ride to the top of Mount Baldy with the boys, while I got a solo visit to the Huntington Botanical Gardens.

El Portal in Sedona: Lovely place run by lovely folks, and dog friendly too.
Best to head into the Mojave with a full tank of gas… there were some white knuckle moments.
