Travel Books / Books For Traveling [Part 1: Claire Cottrell]
To kick off our June focus on travel, we have asked some of our favorite people to recommend their selections of travel reading, which we will publish throughout the coming week.
Our Part 1 recommendation comes to us from a lady possessing impressively diverse talents and seemingly endless productive energy, for such a quiet and modest soul. Claire Cottrell wears the hats of photographer, filmmaker, editor, publisher, and founder of one of my favorite places to visit in the digital world, the online bookstore and journal Book Stand. She recommends:
A collection of hand drawn maps and photos of places that are significant to 50 people that live in Paris. Ami explains, “it’s not a guide to the new cafe or club, but rather, a unique way of discovering different parts of the city."
A photo of apricot gelato in front of the now closed Galerie Salon Antiquités & Astier de Villatte in Saint-Germain-des-Prés on an iPhone 3.
