Travel Books / Books for Traveling [Part 3: Halley Roberts]
Halley Roberts is always on the move, always making, doing, traveling, hiking, cooking, planning. A photographer and intrepid wanderer, we frequently turn to this gal for advice regarding where to go out and find a great trail, hot springs, swimming hole or camp spot. She recommends some travel reading based on the mode of transport:
ON THE ROAD
Since I road trip so much, I like to listen to Malcom Gladwell books. He reads his books for the audio recordings and they’re so great for open-road trips.
ON THE RAILS
When taking the train, I like to read and journal almost the whole time. I like books that are political page turners, like Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini or What is the What by Dave Eggers.
ON THE TRAIL
And lastly, when backpacking I love to read books about… backpacking! One I can always seem to pick up and enjoy time and time again is Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey. It’s the book I always have with me.
